What is this on my long nose hawkfish?

Anybody know if I should be concerned with that white dot on his top fin. I feed squid sometimes and it looks like a little piece of it on his back, but I know it is not. I am just using that as an example to describe it.

Might it be food? Did that develop over time, or just appear one day?

It's been there for about a month, so I really don't think it's food.
