what is this thing? drawing

i have this little arm looking thing coming out of the bottom of my live rock. looks like a little worm kinda thing, and it has pulled an empty hermit crab shell right up next to it. sometimes its there and sometimes its not. it looks like its just connected to the rock and doesnt go up inside, but its in a corner behind my rock by my wall so i cant get a good look at it.

Any chance you could get a pic of it?

Is there any more info that you can give us?
What color is it?
How big is it?
Do you see it during the day, at night or all the time?
Does it have long sharp pointy teeth?
Is it bigger than a breadbox?

ok the picture is lifesize.
i can try and get a picture of it later tonight but my camera doesnt have a macro lense so all i can do is try, but im at work for a few more hours.
it is brownish in color, and gets lighter towards the tip. doesnt appear from what i can see to have a mouth. it isnt always there, but it definately is during the day. it pulled the empty hermit crab shell towards it and it really just hangs there all day from what i can tell. ill try for the picture later tonight when im home

I have what she thinks she is talking about ones white and the other is very dark..there right near each other and the white when when it comes you it sticks it...head.. in the sand and you can see sand moving up the inside then it spits it out. it's only thick enough to grab i tiny peice of sand at a time...not sure what it is either

i am a he, and ya it just went back in the rock when i shined a light on him. it was in the sand too. didnt really look like that. kinda rough looking not really smooth like that thing you posted, kinda darker looking almost like a mini elephant trunk without the holes in the end. i could try and get a picture but its in a tough spot and i dont have a macro lense, hold on
ill have to wait for it to come back outk, its still hiding after i shined a light on it

mine didnt look too reflective, the lights just went off, but i am takin off, ill try and get a picture tomorrow. but ya kinda the same shape etc know what it is?
such a hard angle to get him, i almost wanna slide the tank out to get a pic

That right there in the pic is a peanut worm. Mine usually stay in the same hole but are very shy. They stretch real far out but when they close it looks like they turn into themselves. Wierd, but safe/beneficial.:)
