What is this White/Grey Hair?

My tank is a fish-only with LR which I've had setup for about 8 months. I had one little burst of brown algae right after I was cycling but other than that it's been nice and quiet. Over the last two months I've noticed this white/grey hair on my pumps and heater. It's tough to tell in the pics, but there are some purple patches as well (coraline?).
I've been brushing the stuff off manually whenever I do a change but within a week it'll be back to where it is.
Thank in advance if anyone can ID this for me!

No problem. I'll go ahead and move your topic over to Reef, however, that is just hair algae...common to tanks. Probably being starved out which is why its turning white.
