What is this????

My dad bought this coral and couldn't remember the name of it. After 4 weeks in his tank, it is dying, and he gave it to me to see if it would pull back under more intense lights.
The parts that are white now were completely green when he bought it. So, I wanted to know what it is and how to care for it.
I have coral accel and phytoplex for my other corals, should I try spot feeding it? Or is it totally photosynthetic? It doesn't appear to have polyps at all.

Looks like necrosis. From the pictures and the corals general structure, it might be a hydnophora without the polyps opening.
The only thing that can most likely be done is to try to frag it. WITHOUT getting yourself in the process. But, just cutting a few mms ABOVE where the green tissue ends and trying not to hit the polyps.

Yes! that is totally it. Thank you very much! I have been searching the internet and books....don't know how I skipped over that.
So, this necrosis....is the coral doomed then? Do I have to frag it to get it to grow? And if I do frag it, do I need to use something like bone cutters?
Thanks for the help.
