WHat is this??

My on colony wasn't doing to well and I found this in it.

Looks like an Urchin

Would it have been harmful or did I kill in vain

Looks sorta like a Pencil urchin or something. I could be wrong, but hopefully Cranberry comes thorugh here and lets you know for sure
and if it was a pencil urhcin I wouldnt think it was eating zoas. theres diets are different algeas, uneaten food. Prolly was just knocking the zoas around and banging them up. I hated having one in my 55 gal tank back int he day, but my gf thought it was kool before she got addicted to the hobby.
But maybe u have an URCHIN ZOANTHID PREDATOR!!!

My urchin recently ate my zoas.... I don't think he was after them specifically.

THanks for the quick help. I am glad I got him out of there. It was only 1/4 inch in size.

I'm sure if there's a hell for you, it has a lot of urchins in it! Especially because of all the rare zoa's you keep.

Yeah pencil urchins are pretty much harmless. They will just bull doze there way around knocking stuff over. Next time if you find something like that I would take it to the LFS.. people pay money for urchins. I did!
