What is wrong with my snails

OK I have 10 astrea snails in my 55 gallon tank. I have good water conditions with little or no nitrates. My tank is 2 months old and is doing great with a True Perc and 2 Yellow Tail Damsels.
That being said, some of my snails are prone to falling off the side of the tank. Well, all sides really. It is not uncommon for me to find 2 or 3 snails on their backs every 6 or 7 hours. Whenever I turn on the lights in the morning I have to put one back on the glass and everytime I turn the lights off I have to put some of them back on the glass.
Also these astreas are real lazy. I have produced a film in the tank on the glass. They hardly have their mouths open and all I usually see is their feet. I do not think they could be that weak because my water is in pretty good shape.
What kinds of snails should I get to replace them or should I just get more of them, HELP

I don't know what happened there. Mine have been behaving weird lately. The shell of one of them nearly fell off its back. The other one does not really like to work, and the other one looks like its feet was split to two. I don't know...

I have the same problem with my 2 turbo snails. I can usually make a safe bet that when i awake in the morning I can find them upside down. I dont know if they fall asleep and forget to hold on. I just figured they are not really one of the brightest creatures on the planet. <img src="graemlins//evilwhorn.gif" border="0" alt="[Evil Horn]" />

Folks,
I had the same problem with Astrea, Turbo, and margarita snails when my tank was young. After about two months the sides of the tank have gotten so the snails don't fall anymore.
Your tank is prbably still new.

I agree with Bud_On _Tap on brand new tanks the sides of the glass is very smooth. After a few months bacteria, alage, and other stuff will start to stick to the glass making it easier for them to hold onto.

What about the ones that can't hang onto the rocks. I have to turn over about 5 snails a day and they aren't all just laying around the glass. I've seen my blue legs and scarlets eating the ones that i did't get to in time. I've heard that if you don't have a grounding probe in the tank that the snails might have problems.
