What it means to be a Boston Celtics fan...

Before the playoffs you believed that this was the best team ever assembled.
You are not feeling quite so confident in your team anymore.
Your best player, the defensive player of the year, has a bad habit of disappearing in the fourth quarter.
Your best outside shooter has not made many shots in the playoffs. He seems to be getting worse but you are hoping he gets hot at the right time. You don't want to think about him chasing Rip Hamilton around for about 40 minutes a game.
Your best scorer came up big in game 7 after a quiet series. You always were unsure if this guy was a bit selfish or could be on a winning team. Now you think he may be the savior.
You're so desparate to be back in the nba championship discussion. You are a bit confused as to how this team looked so dominant in the regular season and has seemed so ordinary in these playoffs thus far.
You are very concerned that your team has yet to win a road playoff game and hope it doesn't continue in this series. You are concerned that Detroit will likely get at least one road win in Boston.
In all reality, it's going to be a great series. Boston has a good team but I like my Pistons in 6. If we steal one of the first two games then the series is over. On the other hand, if we start out down 0-2 then that may be too big a hole to climb out of.
Good luck.

First, Cavs should of beat them...
I am not sure how they will play against Pistons.
This series is a toss up. Rip is going to be the X factor... and so is probably Ray-Ray.
The SF match up will be interesting to see how Prince guards Pierce. The bench will be important too. I expect to see more Eddie House.

Pistons vs Lakers will make a great finals

I would have to bet the Pistons will take one out of the first 2 and steal home courst away...Pistons are playing better than anybody right now.

I agree that Rondo will be a key. He will be able to get dribble penetration against Chauncey but Chauncey should have better offensive numbers. Not sure the benches will be that important because I think that when KG and Pierce are on the bench, Detroit will make runs.
BTW, do you agree that Cleveland is not as good as they were last year? It's amazing how much Ben Wallace's game has deteriorated.

BTW, LA's not getting past San Antonio. They've had a much easier playoff thus far.

I thinking using the term 'game' isn't fair to the term game. Wallace's performance was the most uninspried display in years. Goes from defensive player of the year to not even trying
for easy rebounds.
The Cav's deserved to loose based on Wallace's lack of effort.

What?!?! Grandpa and friends from San Antonio over LA? The Spurs nearly blew it yesterday in the 4th because they were tired. No way they can run with Kobe for 48 minutes. The Lakers might drop Game 1, just because they've been on vacation for so long.
LA/Pistons final.

I'm with you here. He looked completely disinterested. Kind of sad because Ben was the heart and soul of this Pistons team's revival in 2002-2003. He was a dominant player and a MVP candidate without even scoring. However, towards the end he was always a malcontent and never seemed to get along with the coaches. In 2004-2005 he was the most intimidating player in the NBA.... teams would change their offenses because he was in the middle. It's too bad.

Might agree, but I'm sick of the flopping, whining Spurs....I think it's a great matchup....as good as the East.

I am a Lakers fan but haven't watched enough games this year to predict how good they will do. But I hope the officiating gets a lot better than it was in the Cav's/Celts game. There were some pathetic calls in that one.

I don't know... I hate Mike Brown's rotations... they do have better talent than last year...
Big Ben is getting old, but he played KG pretty well. Injury has also been an issue with us. On offense Ben doesn't even look at the hoop... I can't believe a person so athletic has no offensive moves.
These two teams match up pretty well, which is why I can't call it. The bench may be the difference... which ever one scores more will win.

LOL!
I have really gotten to where I only follow it during the playoffs. Kinda got spoiled with all the great teams back in the 80's and in the 90's it was blahhhhh
Cool to see the powerhouses of the east coming back to the top.

LA? Now that's a good one. Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker are old?
Sorry, but Bryant is the same age, if not older, than all three of these players. Who does LA have besides Kobe? The entire roster is a bunch of no-names. You can get off your fantasy cloud now. Spurs in 5...

I'll give Boston its due... they are a better team. Ray Allen got his shot back and the other two guys did their thing. The role players like Rondo and Perkins also made some nice contributions.
As far as the Pistons go, I'd like to see them say goodbye to Sheed. He probably had about 4 rebounds last night and had 4 in game 5. What's the point of a 7 footer who doesn't rebound. He also disappears offensively at times, like last night. His act, including the techs are no longer entertaining.
I wouldn't mind seeing them also get rid of Tayshaun. He has some value as a young player entering his prime and is good defensively but his offense is sporadic and he often disappears in the biggest game. So basically, the only ones you can generally count on in big games are Chauncey, Rip and sometimes Dyce.
Personally, I'd like to see them pull off a big move and try to get an inside scorer/rebounder like Elton Brand or Zach Randolph. Even guys like Kenyon Martin, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer would really help a lot.
I'd also like to see Flip gone. He's never gotten a team to play beyond its capabilities. Maybe I'm just pissed off but I'd like to see the team start to move in another direction because this group will never win another championship.

Finals should be interesting. Lot of players on both teams that have never made a finals.
Hopefully the Lakers can step on the leperchahns again

I would have to agree on Sheed. Is he the biggest waste of a 7 footer that can play or what? Some one needs to figure out how to extract his head from his butt. He could be a easy HOFer but man just shut up.
Flip Wilson (
) never impressed me. Doc River isn't the brightest light in the hall either. I think even if all things were equal between LA and Boston I'll take Jackson every time. But then again I think Boston has some serious match up issue with the Lakers.......
As much as I would like to see KG win a Championship I just don't see it.
Lakers in 5 maybe 6......

I disagree. Pau and Kobe cannot match what Boston will throw at them offensively. And defensively, Boston is a good enough team to get through the 1 or 2 superstar team. I say Boston in 6 or 7.
