so you're going for a reef nano setup
what you will need to do is get LS, LR, a powerhead, and strong lights
let it cycle
im going to put some clown fish and nano in it

i'm confused by this ... what do you mean nano?

there is NASO tangs.. which would be way to big for a ten
if you want to keep corals you will need LR or base rock
but you will need strong lighting
96w coralife quad pin 50/50 fits nice on a ten gallon
your filter is pretty meaningless on a nano .. bacuase when you get LR and LS or just sand ... that will become your filtration .... you can use it for flow though.... is it a HOB ?

you can not use a stock tube bulb that goes with FW
if you want to keep corals you will need this light or something like it in strength

not trying to be rude but it does help a lot if you just sit back and read ....
then after getting a base knowledge of the SW upkeep, ask questions
i will try and help as much as possible but you have to help us too

I wasnt trying to be rude, but you seem to not have much knowledge. just because you ask us a question about what filter you need, doesnt mean youre going to instantly have a fishtank thats nice. i still know next to nothing compared to people on here... im tellin you, in my honest opinion go to the new hobbiest forum, read the stickys at the top of the page, and it will cover all the stuff youre asking. there are no shortcuts in this hobby, i learned that the hard way.
sorry i came off rude at first but you seem like you want the information to just fall into your lap, its not quite that easy.

This sounds corny but the best thing you can do is go out and buy a book regarding starting the hobby. You'll save yourself money in the long-run, trust me. When I started saltwater tanks the first thing I did was buy a book.
To answer a couple of questions, there is not one way or one product that would guarantee great water quality. In a 10gal the best way to go is as tuningvis stated is lr. Lr actually makes up a large part of your biological filtration. There are a couple different products that are catered towards nano tanks that will help. Try to stay away from hob mechanical filters or canister filters. A good protein skimmer goes along way as well as does a refugium. Personally I have a 10gal with no skimmer just a hob refugium that does the job just fine. Another thing you need to remeber is it is a 10gal, so don't go putting 3-4 fish in it or you'll be asking for trouble. Try to keep it to 1-2 fish and you'll thank yourself later. A low bioload helps in water quality in a nano setup. Hope this helps a little.
