What kind of foods are good for an Emperor -?

LOL...you knew I would chime in GTD!
Best food that I have found for my angels is the cubed Formula mix that is special for angels. It contains sponge which is required in their diet.
I also feed frozen krill, silversides, and PE M.Y.S.I.S. I inject all the food with Vitachem and Garlic and sometimes Selcon.

I love the frozen angel cubes that have sponge; my favorite is Mega-Marine Angel. Repeating what CC said: variety & vitamins are really the key to success with angels (and most fish). Emperors are omnivores and seem to eat more greens as adults than as juvis; but they should have algae alternatives if you don't have a lot of natural algae pasture for grazing. Raising one of these gorgeous fish from juvi to adult is one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had in this hobby. (2nd place was lending a volitan to a friend with a big tank and lots of unwanted damsels.) I really believe vitamins and garlic are the key to keeping brilliant colors as the fish grows into an adult.

Only if the fish eats it. Mine will only eat zoos and sushi wraps.

My juvenile emperor eats like crazy. What I feed it is Angel and Butterfly frozen formula in the morning, then I put algae sheets throughout the day. He goes through those algae sheets in minutes, then spends the time grazing off the LR.
He also eats mysis and goes after the krill I feed to the lionfish.

Thanks for input guys. The reason why I am asking, is because my Emperor has stop eating for the past week. I have him for about two months now. He's been eating well for a while, until last week. He was eating Mysis,Blood worms, cyclops and spectrum, all soaked in Garlic, Zoe and Seclon. I did had problems with my Nitrate, its down now to 10. When I put the foods in, he looks at it and turns away. He does eat algae strips and lettuce. So, do I have a problem here-?

I'm afraid you might have a problem. Any fish can go on an occassional hunger strike; but, a week for an establisher fish is cause for real concern. If he's still eating greens, great. I think older Emperors eat much more green stuff than juvis. How does he look? Getting a slimmer stomach? General appearance and behavior says a lot. Anyone picking on him? BTW; I don't think elevated nitrates (say, below 100ppm) have any real effect on fish. Corals, inverts--yes; but not fish.

Thanks for the reply ! His stomach does look a little thin. His tail, still has a very bright blue color to it. All my readings are fine.

An emperor will usually eat meaty foods; less as they grow older, IME. I hope someone chimes in with more help; I really don't have much to offer. IMO, FormulaII can be an excellent food to get finicky angels eating; if you get him eating again, I'd skip the lettuce and use more of the newer algae products as well. BTW, do you have enough LR for him to graze? This isn't a cure-all for these fish, but really helps. Some herbivores can do well on LR almost exclusively, but an Emperor is an omnivore and needs some more variety. Good luck, keep us posted. (Maybe re-post on the disease forum, there are a lot of real experts on fish health there.)
