You certainly dont want to put a lion with a titan or pineapple trigger. Nigers and Bursa and the like are usually ok though.

Triggers and lions don't mix. But if you must have them both a niger would be the best bet with the lion as they are very peacefull (for a trigger)

I would not recommend putting a lion into your tank, especially not a fu man chu. More than likely, they will be torn up by the trigger and you will have easily wasted $40. Fu Man Chu lionfish are one of the least aggressive lionfish and one of the hardest to get to eat.

Most books may not recommend that you mix the two. I have and haven't had any trouble mixing the two. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I've got a humu and a blue throat trigger in with a Volitans. Never once saw the triggers going after the lion.

Yes, blue throats are one of the most peaceful triggers and humu's are toss-ups, usually not very aggressive. Titans and pineapples are some of the most aggressive triggers. Also, you have the most aggressive type of lion, the volitan. The original poster is looking into getting a dwarf, specifically a fu man chu, one of the least aggressive lions and one of the hardest to try and accept food. There is no way a fu man chu would be aggressive enough to last with those triggers, let alone try to learn to eat frozen foods.

Oops! Just re-read his post and missed that!

in a 90 gallon you could keep a volitan lionfish easily, whether you want to try and keep it with that trigger is up to you.

I hope it works out for you. At least you did not go with a dwarf and you went with the more aggressive volitan..
