thanks! I will pick some up very soon!
Also, anyway to clean off algae and gunk from an overflow box rather than scrubbing like crazy for an hour? I scrubbed mine for about 15 minutes and still have a long way to go.
The Fusion paint website says it dries in 15 minutes. Anyone know how long it takes to fully cure. How long do you wait until you put it back in your tank?
if you can't scrub the algae off, give it a soak in something (light bleach, vinegar, lemon juice).
as for where to buy the paint, i would think all big hardware stores would carry krylon. call them if you want to be sure.
Ace hardware carries it, just picked one up, it was $4.97 or something like that. I know that lowes does not.
I guess I will let it dry overnight, disappointed though I wish I could just paint it and put it back in the tank a few hours later. I will try to post some before and after pictures after it is done. Thanks for the help everyone.
I used this paint! It is amazing!
I painted my overflow box and it blends in sooo well. You can hardly see it. If I have the halids off you cannot see the box from more than 4 feet away. Once I get the PVC painted and in the tank I will post some pictures.
FULL tank shot, notice the new painted overflow box and PVC returns. When the halides are off you cannot even see the overflow box from more than 7-8 ft. away. Turned out way better than I could have imagined. I also just got done hanging the light.

Sorry the tank looks kinda crappy, the glass is really dirty.
What does everyone use to clean their glass?
Mag Float.
I'm also one of those who cleans the back of the glass too (most people like the coraline look), and though it's tough to run a magfloat along the back of a 6' tank where there's only about 6" of clearance, I manage.
It is Krylon Fusion paint and forms some sort of unique bond with plastic which is safe for aquarium inhabitants. Atleast that is what I have been told.

are you guys serious ? there is no way i would have paint contacting saltwater in my tanks.
I was thinking the same thing, paint inside the tank!If you have anything painted that has been inside your tank for over a year I would like to hear from you.You see I was thinking of painting the overflows and any white pvc plumbing with black paint. It would be much cheaper than buying black pvc pipe[is it available in black?]and I think would look better, more stealth.
I have not had anything in there for more than a year, only a few days actually. I would ask acrylic51 if you have any questions, he was the one who recommended it to me.
The paint does look fantastic though.
well it's been almost 4 months since you did this, can you give a report on how the paints (and the animals!!) are holding up?
I was thinking of doing this exact thing with the PVC that may be seen from live-framing my new 110. I was curious if there was a paint you could safely use INSIDE the tank, and I'm really hoping this worked for you!!! Do you have anything new to add now that the paint has settled for a few months?
