Read the FAQ on sharks that risc wrote it is in the archives. The sharks(like black tips) that swim alot require tanks in the thousand gallons.

lepard sharks need way bigger tanks than a 240. The yget 8 feet!!! That means a BIIIGGGGG tank, a couple thousand gallonds would be needed.

dont get a leopard. Leopard sharks need around 5000 gallon tank. Before you think about a shark read the FAQ that was writing by risc.

LEOPARD SHARK IS THE WAY TO GO THE 240 GALLON TANK IS FINE IF THATS THE ONLY THING YOU R GOING TO KEEP IN THERE ALTHOUGH YOU CAN ADD OTHER FISH. I HAVE ONE IN A 200 GALLON TANK AND ITS BEEN FINE FOR TWO YEARS NOW SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE 240 NOT BEING BIG ENOUGH. JUST REMEMBER NO DECOR IN THE TANK AND GET A BABY ONE TO START WITH

Wow, that has to be the STUPIDEST post I've ever seen on this mb. What the hell are you talking about? Leopard sharks get to be 6-7ft. How is that going to fit in an 8 foot tank?

Agree with JIM27
Leopard sharks cant live in an 200 gallon tank. They get big and are an active sharks species.

Guys, please don't let this break out into a flame war. Jim, while the information pancho gave was wrong, you could've replied a little nicer. I just don't want a flame war starting. Bo

I think alot of us get real excited at the thought of keeping a shark and think "oh, I'll start him out in a 240 and upgrade in a few years when he gets bigger" but then you think about it and realize that when he gets that big, how in the heck can you move this thing without investing an unspeakable amount of money on a permanent setup for him? It really isn't something you should do untill you are ready for that type of responsibility.Just a thought!

There are shark species that you can put in a 240 gallon tank for there entire lives. I think everyone wants to own a shark and one that is active but it cost alot of money.

A leopard in a 200? What are you going to do with it when ity gets bigger? Gonna get a net and bring him to an aquarium near you? Nope, they don't take aquarium kept sharks. Gonna bring it in to an lfs? Do they have the room? Probibly not. So what are you going to do with it? I still think that you should get a coral cat for they are the most active out of the catsharks, or you can get an epaulette. Both cool sharks.
