my 10 gal nano is 1 week old, I have 3 pound live rock and live sand....what should i add next more live rock?....scarlet hermets?....????? Im very new to the hobbie, so keep it simple is my mod.
Right now patience is your virtue....what exactly are you going for.....are you looking to do fish with live rock, fish and coral....things we need to know bro.
First we need to make sure the nitrogen cycle has been established. You are testing your water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates, correct? What was the latest reading and what has been the trend? How "live" was your rock and sand? Did you detect a die off?
Make sure you understand getting the cycle established before you add any livestock.
A list of your equipment would help, type of lights, filtration etc.
Welcome to the site!
I was given the tank ect from a relative and was to convinced and challenged to try a marine tank. I have cured rock and the sand is the ready sand from the pet store (aregrogate) the light hood is a standard hood but i bought 2, 50/50 reef sun light bulbs, and the filter is a aqua clear 50.
I would buy more live rock. Cured if possible and keep it in salt water during transport.
What are your other parameters?
Specific Gravity
PH
Ammonia
Nitrites
Most people dose prime to stop the toxicity of ammonia and nitrites when they have livestock and an unforseen spike.
Dosing prime does not remove the problem, only keeps it from being deadly.
When your ammonia spikes and goes to 0 and your Nitrates spike and go to 0, then your nitrates spike. At this point, most people do a large water change.
I recommend (if you haven't already) reading the stickies in the beginner section. Especially, the info about starting a tank.
no i would stack those rocks up and make a two island scene. You could have like a overhang thing goin on....i dont think everyone knows about ur tank swap doctor! Your gonna want some more rock, when ur tanks done cycling....looking good though
