Iv just lost my last fish due to ick. I thought I was ahead in treating it but I lost my last fish today. Now what do I do? How long do I have to wait before introducing any fish into my tank? How do I get rid of what ick remains in the tank?

Without a host, the ick will not survive in the tank for longer than 90 days, I think it is. So you will have to let your tank sit for a while, but it will be worth it when all is said and done. Also, if you do not currently have a QT set up for introducing new fish, then when the time comes to begin sotcking again, you should do this, as it will keep this from happening again. HTH

No I dont have a QT yet but I will now this weekend. Is there anyother "meds" I need to put in the tank to help kill it or just leave it?

No, just leave the tank fishless. Don't add any medication. Is there medication in the tank now? What type of tank is it? FO, reef?

Its a 100 gallon FO right now with about 80lbs of LR and 3 inch sand bed. Iv been using melafix for the fish that had cloudy eye. Thats the only med Iv used. No copper. I bought a cole tang that started this then I found my Nitrates were high because I didnt find the darn snails that were dead because they were hidden under some LR. It will eventualy be a reef.

Its not a FO tank if it has LR; its a FOWLR--which is semi reef. Thus, you can not add medication to the tank as it will kill off the LR. Also, snails are inverts, and will not tolerate hyposalinity or copper.

So your saying any meds regardless if its safe for a reef is not good for LR? salinity right now I believe is .24. Also on a QT tank do you put new fish in it for about a week then into you reef? Is that the correct process?
