What powerhead?

I don't really know much about gph or anything like that and I wanted more flow in my tank and I'm not sure what type of powerhead I should get. Right now I have 2 powerheads one Rio 200 and one Rio 800. What should I get to move the water across the entire tank without being too strong? I have a 46 gallon tank that is 3 feet long. Like I said before, I basically have no idea about gph and how much I should have. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Does that Rio 200 even move water more than a foot? You could get a Maxijet 900 or 1200 and put one of those attachments that change the direction of the flow. Or get a power sweep pump that goes side to side as it pump. In my 29G I have a Maxijet 600, Rio 600 for behind the rocks and just put in a powersweep 600. Also I have my protein skimmer moving water. Lots of water movement is good.

I use the koralia and love it. I will be taking the other misc. powerheads out and replacing all of them with this. So far I have two (#3's) in my 150 gallon and one of them moves more water than my other three power heads combined

Should I get a couple of 1200 gph powerheads or a couple of 850 gph powerheads? I don't want too much power where the corals are being blown over by the current.

look for an attachment called a hydro flow deflector.. they are great they are an attachment and they spin and deflect the current as is spins.

I just got 3 Koralia 3#'s and they are awesome. I highly recommend them over the maxi 1200's. The maxi's are cheap and durable, but the flow, and the magnets suctions on the Koralia are worth every penny.

Will the 850 gph one be powerful enough to move the water 3 feet because I have cheato in a container (thanks 05xrunner) and my powerheads aren't strong enough so there isn't a good current over there.

i would say yes..I am still trying to perfect a spot for my #4 so that it wont blow my sand away 4feet on the other side of my 75g

Can these Koralias be put on a wavemaker of some sort? I have a friend who says that they can't be placed on one that constantly stops and starts it. But perhaps would work on one that slows it down and then kicks it back up....I guess something like a surge or a soft start???? not sure what a soft start is....anyhow...any suggestions or ideas on this?

I've heard they can't either, but the soft start shouldn't cause any issues IMO. Soft start is one that doesn't kick on all the power to it right away, its a little nicer to the motors.

thanks azaintcold....I will have to look into what soft start unit I can find. And then tracking down these elusive Koralias as well..LOL
