Hi guys, i have a 55 gallon tank. Planning to buy the esshopps RS-100 20g wet/dry sump. The Siphon takes out 600gph to the sump. What kind of pump would i need?
Can you explain the siphon aspect a little better? Using a straight siphon will always end with either a flood or a ruined pump 100% of the time.
Are you actually referring to an overflow box? If so then I'd suggest a 300 - 600gph pump with a valve on the output so you can throttle down the pump if need be. Perhaps something similar to a Mag Drive 5.

but a mag5 is only 500gph, wouldnt that not work with 600gph going into the sump?
If the pump puts out 400 gallons of water per hour then 400 gallons of water will flow to the sump, not 600. The pump determines the flow rate, not the overflow box as long as you don't exceed the capacity of the overflow box.
