Someone gave me this Anemone, been in my tank for like 2 months now and is going strong. No problems with it. I have been feeding it Fronzen shrimp (like shrimp cocktail) is that the right thing to feed it. I have cut a piece off and it would grab it and then put into its mouth. But the last time that I fed it it would not eat it. It would just let it go. Should i feed it something else. I dont even know the name of my anemone, can someone also id for me?

NOTHING COOKED. RAW shrimp, squid, basically anything meaty and fishy but RAW always RAW.. not that its a bad thing but your anenome wont get the nurtrients out of the food if they are cooked out. I feed mine squid, clams, sometimes it grabs some formula 1, cyclopeez.. and shrimp.

I am feeding it raw shrimp. They are the same shrimp that you would eat, froze, but uncooked. i just defrost in tank water and then feed! Will an anemone not eat if it is not hungry, or are they not smart enough to know that. I am just curious since last time it would not take the shrimp! I made a mistake on my original POST! i said cooked. they are not, they are just frozen. My mistake!!

Depending on the size of the piece of shrimp you gave it no it may not eat again for a while if it was a really large piece. Its normal for them to reject food if they are not hungry. Depending on the size of the anenome and the size of the food it should readily accept food every 2 to 3 days. I feed mine a dime sized piece of food about 1/4" thick every 2 to 3 days. My anenome is approx 3" in diameter. Hope that helps..

Not the foot where it attaches to the LR. The base of the anenome where the tenticles are is about 2-1/2 to 3" in diameter.

Is that measurement from the end of one tentacle to the end of another spread out? Mine is probably about the same size then. My mine a rose anemone? I dont even really know what mine is.

i have a florida condi, that i have had about 5 mos. it eats frozen krill, frozen cyclops, but what eats the fastest is live feeder goldfish. it loves the fish moving around, and draws it in fast for the feast.
hope this helps.
