i have a 45g tank, with liverock and cc substrate, so far i have 2 camelback shrimp, 2 clarkii clowns, and 2 pinktip hatian anenomes. i was wondering what else i should consider for cleaning the cc and algae. and how long should i wait to get the cleaning crew.

If your tank is cycled and all is well then you can add the clean-up crew right now. I have 45lbs of live rock and cc and I had tons of orange yucky algae. I got some margarita snails and they worked great they are not too big and fun to watch. I have 6 in my 55 gal. I also have 2 blue legged hermits, but they don't do much for cleaning, they are just kinda fun to watch when they fight:) They leave my snails alone but I have heard they can kill snails for their shells. Good luck and welcome to the board!

the reef packages are nice but i wanted to start slow becouse there is not much if any algae growing in the tank at the moment. im just wondering what i should get to keep the substrate and glass clean naturely and with little work on my part. i was thinking about a fighting conch, several snails, and a brittle star

It won't take long for you alge to bloom. To start get 10 dwarf crabs and 10 turbo snails. Fighting conch will help with the diatom in your sand. A sand sifting gobie will also help your sand look clean.

I have a white head gobie. Not sure what the real name is but that is what the LFS had called him. I thing most of the watchmam gobies do it. Not the Engineer Gobie. I like that gobie. I think I'm going to get him next.

will the gobies be able to dig into and snails be able to clean the cc, or are they only able to clean the sand bed substrates?
