Under the auction site on saltwater.com. some one is selling a ecosystem. it says ecosystem 40. is that for a 40 gallon tank?
what size would i need for a 280 gallon tank?
they say you dont need a wetgry or a skimmer. would it be even better if you do use a skimmer and wetdry with it?
can i use a smaller ecosystem with a wetdry and skimmer. I would like the make as many additions as possible to my filter systemh

Try <a href="http://www.marinepropagations.com/EcosystemBuynow.htm" target="_blank">www.marinepropagations.com/EcosystemBuynow.htm</a>
Start savin' your piggybank.

Sheesh it did not work.
put Ecosystem filter in search, then you will have few list of Ecosystem and look for marinepropagation website they sells so wide size of Ecosystem and is silightly cheaper than Saltwaterfish. Free shipping when buy a complete EcoSystem kit.

a wet dry, a skimmer, and an ecosystems, do you have lr and a dsb, it seems as though you are trying to over do it, i would not, i am not convinced that the eco is as good as it appears, my system has none of that garbage,a dn i have trates of 5, most ecos i talk to have not achieved this, especially with out a skimmer
anyhow, over doing it, TRUST ME, you do not need or want near as much as you are trying ot achieve, over kill and then some, would be a good way of putting it
believe me when i say this, i have no filter or skimmer and am achaiveing nitrates near 0, why bother with all that extra equipment, it is more work, more money and less effective, IMO

hey livingwater, i am looking at an ad for that thing right now. a '40' is a hang-on-th-back model for 10-40 gallons.
according to this ad, you need the system 3616 sump model. it is for a 150-240 gallon tank. it is the biggest model they make.
i have heard mixed stuff on these filters, but i haven't done my homework. you should.
;)

Suppose if I remove the Bio-balls out of EcoSystem will it reduce Nitrate? (Bioballs are known to be as a Nitrate factory but algae need some Nitrate to eat.) <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

Hey Fishub,
Why you think EcoSystem is a piece of garbage? Curious...... Anyway after my research and I think this might be a good filter in a nature way. mud as algaes' food chain and so many food chain around that section then toward tank for LR or corals or etc to enjoy. Maybe fishes too. I think this would be an excellent filtration. I am seriously considering to buy Ecosystem hang on for my two 29 gallon to see how it turn up before I go for sump for my 55 gallon and another one for 150-300.
How can it be a piece of trash even others are using homemade refgum with dsb system?

never said it was garbage, just that i can't seeee the value for the money they want, everyone i have talked to with one claims to have good trates, most almost as good as mine(without one), and none are doing any better, so i just cannot see where i think they are worth the extra money, that is all

Sorry for bring up trash language but it sound like.... anyway Thank for the input and I will try one at a time on say start with hang on 40 for my 29 gallon.
There is auction selling this product here and problem is that they do not accept money order or cashier check. Credit Card required. I am stuck.... So I am still lookin for baragin on auction depending timing of month. By the way thank for the "concern" input so I will put eye on everything after I get that for my 29 gallon.
Thanks

personaly if i were to consider one, i would build my own sump and just buy the mud and NO balls, much cheaper, and that i can completeeely agree wiht, a little over 100$ maybe(i think the muc goes for 99)
and i would only use one, the eco or she skimmer, IMO, not both would be needed
HTH

Hey Anthem,
You made a good point about the bio-Ball in first chamber section.....
Another question.... Why Bio-balls on sump and the bio-sponge on Hang On version on the THIRD chamber is being present for what purpose? This is that one question me why this third chamber?? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" /> Maybe you can clarify what this purpose on third chamber is all for? Thanks

now i got a question, what you are trying to sya is that the bio bale an dbio balls do not trap garbage???
thisis how they are different, if so, they are still the same problem,
i have researched and compared this system,a dn i can say that everyone i talked to has haad no more success withthem than i have with the berlin system, and i donot have a skimmer
but to reiterate, i do have an idea about the eco system, adn the bio balls do trap the detritus(garbage, wet or not, that is their job)
sorry antehem, but i have done plenty of homework, including talking with friends, not reeading ads), and i do agree with you on alot, i just think these bio balls are bio balls, same with the sponges and bio bale, or whateveris in anyfilter, it's sole job is to trap the junk, resulting in nitrate production

That's one of the reasons why I stayed away from adding an ecosystem to my tank. The mud sounds the same as having a dsb and lr and the bio balls would eventually trap deritus leading to higher nitrates in the future (regardless of what chamber they're in). The hefty price tag though was my biggest reason. I would just advise on getting a sump for your main tank and creating your own ecosystem. It would save you the money and be just as effective.

Anthem and Fishub,
Even with prefilter and even double prefilter before it enter into bio-medias and still derbis (garbages) get thur and cause Nitrate problem in later time? Suppose if I am to maintancee the sump or whatever, would it be safe to take bio-media out and rinse out the derbits in a bucket of aquarium water that is being siphoned out (water change) , then put bio-media back in chamber? Still not help?

anthem, no prob, especially if you are talkin about the shark ordeal, i was watching that tooo, lol, gotta hand it to him, it was kinda funny, how he was saying he knows, but is only citing what he read too, but as i mentioned, even by his numbers, it still does not add, for me in my book
