What size is a nano?

I consider a nano 30 or less. But I am sure that is on the big side for alot of folk. Here is a quick shot of my 29.

I pretty much consider everything less than 42-50 gallons a nano. Really though.... doesn't really matter

reall all of our tanks are nano- but i would say 20 or less- i know most say 29-30 but there are so many of them out there and they dont exactly seem like "small" tanks- they are still several hundred pounds

Same here, i think nanos are 20 or less. I think most suggest the general minimum size for a SW tank is 30, a nano has to be less than that.

Not to be technical or anything, but if a minimum tank is 30 gal we can call that a small tank compared to what some people have. To define nano in mathematical terms, it is 1 x 10^-9 (or one/ one trillionth). So a nano tank would be .000000075 gallons. but thats just ridiculous now, isnt it :D.

I think total volume should be considered. This is why I voted 30 or less. You could have a ten gallon nano, but if it's attached to a 55 gal sump, it takes some of the challenge out of it.

Ditto - I think 30 Gallons is about max end. Though with the proliferation of odd sized tanks it may be changing .... I still think about 30 gallons or less but more and more ... I'm leaning towards 54 gallons or less and 55 is the break point ... from Nano to Micro.......

you must be fairly strong :D . a 10 gal w/ LS, LR would be bout 100 lbs. the water itself is 8lbs/gal * 10 gal = 80lbs

My first saltwater was a 10g so I think tiny. To me a 50-30 is normal, 20-10 is a small tank and 5 and under is nano.
