My buddy has these things on his snails and i don't have a clue.
He pulled the hosts out of the tank untill he gets an ID on what they are.

Try to keep their numbers down with tweezers. Don't get a clam! They will make short work of it.
There are wrasses that are rumored to eat them, maybe you wanna look into that.

I feel the pain....lost 2 clams to those monsters. Pyramidellid snails. Wrasses of the genus Halichoeres are known to hunt these buggers down. Good luck.

Also, you can scrub them off with something like an old toothbrush. Snails and clams. Be dilligent and do it everyday for a while. I have not found a dip that does any good.

I have them. I am down to two astrea snails. I take them out everytime I see them on the snails and scrub them off. I see them in my live rock though.
Stinks.

Ya see!! QT EVERYTHING!!
I had them in my 90. I studied every single snail that I've added to my current tank. So far so good as far as they go.
Hey GG, that little 2 pounder I got the other night, I put in QT and the next day I found a cluster of hydroids on it!!
EVERYTHING goes in QT

So the snails owner DOES have clams??

One day the clam will appear find and the next, he'll wake up and see almost empty shell. That's sad, cause there's really no way to get them off the bottom of the clam. They are all on and around the foot.

all the clams are big clams 6-7imch and sit on the sand bed of his tank. The snail was pulled out of the tank and bagged up and brought back to the store.
So now he is going to be picking the clams and doing inspections for ever i think.
The only reason why jay was wondering what was going on was that his wrass kept flipping the snail over like it was trying to eat it when he put the sanil in the tank. Thats when he saw the little snails and called me. I was said i think your in trouble when i pulled the snail out and saw the little ones.

i had them take out my CUC, but for some reason they only attack the type of snail your buddy has, the astrea snails or whatever. i had margaritas and ceriths and the pyrams didnt try to kill them. not sure if i lost my clams due to pyrams or adding new pumps and all that, but it sucked

Its sux for sure. I told him his tank is off limits to me and i don't want anything from his tank now, no chances taken
He moved all his clams up front so he can watch.
I'm in Delware right now so i don't know how hes making out.
if he were to lose his gigas i think i would have to cry, i love his gigas.

What kind of wrasse was eating those pyramid snails??
Hes got a sixline wrass that kept flipping the snail over and knocking it off the glass. The wrass kept hitting the bottom of the snail and picking up the little snails like he was eating them. I did not believe it till i watch it my self. I did not think six lines would eat/pick at them.
Now the sixline keeps doing it to the other snail looking for little ones.
