What the H#$* is this?

I found this in my refuge today. I have never seen anything like it. Well kind of like a starfish only longer and no leggs.It was stuck on the glass it looks like 1 starfish leg that broke off. I have no idea anyone? sorry for the low res pic I need to get my Mom to take a picture of it but that would be quite involving as Mom's go if you know what I mean.

They have a small shell that you can't always see.
