What the heck?

I have two maxima clams in my tank. I always check on them in the morning and they were both there and opened. I was doing a night watching in my tank and noticed one of the clams is gone. His shell is still there but its completely empty. What could have happened?

it was probably dying even in the morning. clams will remain open once it is deteriorating. unless u hv fish or inverts that eats clam? was the mantle fully extended this morning?

Yes it was, and also what is mind boggling is I have another clam in there (I had 2) and he is doing very fine fully open and reactive when i wave my hand over the light. So it can't be the parameters cause they would be both affected correct?

Well your clean up crew did its job on the dead or dying clam. As in all life sometimes things just die

Clams can slowly die over the course of a month or longer... it may have just finally gone and once it does -- clean up crew will go to work IMMEDIATELY.
Sorry for your loss!
