what the hell is this

i have had my 55g aquirium for about 3 months. i have a undulated trigger and a goby that stays away from the trigger the other day i saw something growing under the sand. it is like a bunch of little red strings together when i mess with it it goes under the sand then comes back a little later what the hell is this

Sounds like worms. Perfectly normal and a sign that things are going well in your tank.

Might be a Terebellid worm aka spaghetti worm.
