2 Questions - I have a 200gal. saltwater reef tank 2yrs. old. Is red/burgandy algae bad?
And I have found something in my tank that I didn't put in there... Is stay under the rock mostly, it's black with 2 antennae, about 1 1/2 inch by 3 inch.
It dosen't seem to have any thickness to it. i have tried to take a picture of it but it it only comes out as a black spot on the rock...
Any Idea???

A picture of the algae you are talking about would help.
Sounds like it could be a Scutus. Like this??

Came in as s small hitch hiker and just grew until you noticed I would think. Great hitcher, you are lucky to have it.

there are a couple different red/burgundy algaes some are worse than others.
could be diatoms, or cyanobacteria, or red cotton algae, or some thing else, try googleing those and see if you come accross a picture of the type your talking about.
but either way a bloom of algae of just about anycolor is indicitave of excess nutrioents for them to feed on.
