Im not trying to be rude or anything, but there have been hundreds of other threads on lighting and what types. Try using the "search" tool that SWF.com has and look up some lighting threads. You can also look in the FAQ section too.

Personally, I prefer metal halides. I don't them myself yet, but my friend has them and they look amazing. They give off this shimmering more natural look than t-5s and pc.

The height of your tank has a lot to do with what type of lighting and how strong it needs to be. Also what type of corals do you plan on keeping?

I use 3 250W HQIs on mine, and 2 VHO actinics. MHs are PFO ballast and pendants, VHOs run off of an Ice Cap Electronic ballast.
Some people will say you need 400W MH because the 180 is typically 24" deep, but the HQI's give off more light than standard 250W MH bulbs, and you can vary your coral placement based on lighting needs.

Thanks for the advice everybody. I plan on getting some xenia, frogspawn, zoos, and maybe some brains along with leathers. The height of my 180 is just the regular 24" if that helps
