What to do about it

When I first started my aquarium several years ago, I had problems with green hair algae. I bought a yellow tang, astera snails and hermit crabs. The hermit crabs and the tang took care of the algae on the rocks. The snails tookcare of the algae on the glass. My tang was a very effective green hair algae eater. Also, a lawnmower blenny is a good choice as well.
However, I would find out why the algae is growing in the first place. Sounds like your nitrates or phosphates may be high. Also, having your lights on a long time will add to the problem.
