Was your live rock already curred ? I would run your tank with normal operations ( light cycles, power flow, filters, heater, skimmer, whatever you have ). test regularly. Assume that your rock isn't curred. Be patient and test your water. If a couple weeks are going by and you see no sign ( if you think there is any chance your live rock wasn't curred give several weeks ) that your tank is cycling then you are good to go. If you put anything in and your tank has not cycled then it will die. Once you are sure all your tests are coming out normal then get your first fish or piece of coral. Be patient on stocking and do it slowly. Good luck !

i wouldn't run the lights at all while the tank is cycling. i'd wait 3 weeks before i started testing the water. ammonia and nitrite should be undetectable, and nitrates as low as possible.
