WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO?!?

Well, this is how it goes. my 29 gallon reef has been up for like three years now, and last night i was looking in the caves in my live rock. all of a sudden i saw what looked like green ink shoot out from a hole! i was like, what the hell is that coming from! what came out then?? an octopus!!! it's about the size of a quarter! then he swam around for a minute, and went back into the cave he came from. i never saw it before, and haven't added anything to my tank in a long time. i wonder where he came from, and how to get rid of him if he becomes a problem. any thoughts????

WOW!!! <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" /> <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" /> I bet that freaked you out!!
I wish I could help you with how to catch it, the only thing I can think of is a mantis trap, the kind with the door that closes. I don't know if that will actually work though.......
Something you added in the last couple of months must have had octopus eggs on it and this one survived!!! Absolutely amazing!!!!

WHOA! NO WAY!!!
That is so cool, but I would be a little nervous for your fish. But then again, 3 years? Anything dissapear mysteriously?
If so I would try to get him out of there and set up a little tank just for him with a tight lid. I remember a story about a public aquarium where they kept losing fish in this one tank. They couldn't figure out why. Then one time someone saw the octopuss in the next tank crawling out and over to the fish tank for a little snack. Mystery solved.
They are supposed to be really smart. I read somewhere that you can train them to open jars to get their food.
Too cool.
