What to Feed Sea Whip?

I just got great info and help from the people at my other thread on my ailing purple gorgonian/sea whip, but I was wondering what everyone feeds.
I looked for Golden pearls but the only place I found them is out and won't have them back in stock for a month.
Help me save him! Tell me what to feed him!

Have you tried DT's pytoplankton?
Sometimes I mix salt water with seachems reef plus and fish flake food that I pulverize. I use a turkey baster to spot feed.

I haven't found a local or even close palce to get DT's.
I already have reef plus and tank feed but will try spot feeding with pulverized frozen food (formula1). Thank you.

If this is the same one in the other thread, with the white polyps, it's not a Sea whip. Sea whips are photosynthic (they have zooxanthellae), and have tan/brown polyps. Non photosynthic gorgonians usually have blue, white, clear, yellow, red, etc.
You would be best off feeding it DT's phytoplankton and Golden Pearls :)

Tahoe,
Are you clear that Sea Whips are a species of Gorgonian? By the way you said this: "Ok, So I do have a gorgonian then.," you sounded a bit confused on the concept of what was and what wasn't a gorgonian :)

ok, now much clearer! Maybe.
All sea whips are gorgonians but not all gorgonians are sea whips and I do not have a sea whip. But I have a gorgonian?
Any ideas if pulverized formula 1 mixed with seachem aminos and vit. will help until I get DT's?
Email me about where to get them please

Thank you for your help and your patience.

No.
A Sea Whip is a species of Gorgonian. For example: A Devils Hand leather is a species of Soft Coral. Gorgonains are not the same as cnadarians. You have a gorgonian, that's definitaly not a sea whip (because you say it has white polyps [which narrows down to that the gorgonian doesn't have zooxanthellae, sea whips {a different species of gorgonian} have zooxanthellae]).
In a nut shell, Sea Whips are Gorgonians, as Devils hands leathers are softies. It would be like saying 'You have a soft coral.' Does make sense?

Forget about what kind of animal you have for now. I would suggest investing your hard earned money into a phytoplankton culturing station. You will save a lot of money in a few months with this culture station. I spent about $45 on the hardware and the live phyto and I have an unlimited supply of LIVE phytoplankton. go to florida-aqua-farms.com and look for the nano.... species of live microalgae. Flameangel's web page shows step by step how to culture phyto.

Either way, feed what you can. They will take anything you offer as long as it is small enough. The non-photosynthetic gargonians will need to be feed at least twice a week.
They are harder to keep (IMO) because they need more attention.
I had a couple, but they just wasted away after 6 months or so.
I had yellow fingers. Yellow w/ red spots and white polyps.
The purple ones I have had for more than three years, they were the fiirst corals I got.

thanks all! you've been emensely helpful here's the latest:
I moved him to an area with more current. I got the ph down to 8.4 at mid light cycle. I mixed the invert smorg, the seachem aminos and vitamins, and the frozen(thawed) form 1 in a mini blender and hit puree. Then I spot fed him with my pipette and the current off for 5 min. During the feed, the white polyps were out. It seems to have deepened a little in color, and there are no new spots of decay. I ordered golden pearls, and I am hoping to find DT's phytoplankton when I go out of town in 2 weeks. Until then I'm hoping he'll be stable.
Thanks again for all the help.

closer than sf, but off the beaten path, in chico there are a couple stores that stock dt's, i used to buy it at "pet's etc."
also there is a decent store in placerville, one in auburn, depending on what side of the lake you are on.
