What to test water for?

What test kit should I purchase and what should I be testing? I have a 110 gal reef tank, wet/dry sump w/bio balls. It's only been set up for 2 weeks now. Dumped our old 40 gallon salt water tank into it. It had been set up for 1 1/2 years. I know this sounds like a stupid quetion, but I've let the aquarium store test my water every week, in the past. I'm ready to do this myself now. I'm tired of stores stearing us in the wrong direction. Since we've got over $1700 invested in this new tank, I want it done right. I feel so lost with it all and want to do my best for the tank.

Thanks exile! Was looking at pics of your tank, awesome! I will start testing and keeping a log. What does it mean when the tank "cycles" and how will I know?
