What type of lighting is best for a BTA?

Type of lighting is a consideration, however a size of tank would be good to get an idea on just how many watts or type of lighting you may need. Mh, VHO, PC or T-5 will work and you should shoot for 4-5 watts per gallon depending on size of tank, however the watts per gallon rule is a rather poor rule.
So what size tank are we talking?

I saw earlier posts that you mentioned you have a 55g. Is this the tank the BTA will go in? If so, I'd say a bare minimum of 260 watts of PC (4x65). MH would definitely be the best though.

Ahhh the life of a high school freshman, im on a tight budget, unless i can get a ton of stuff from a friend, but yes I am only allowed one 55 gal, atleast unitl I get out of college, this is the one. Id like to add it early if possible, around the same time as two black percs. Metal halide is basically out of my budget.
