Most anemones would do well under that lighting once your tank is established. Anemones need an established aquarium, so to put them in a new tank would greatly stress them out.

Im afraid Pitbullis right, thats why i was asking. The carpets seem to be the worst at needing the more intense light. Dont get me wrong, you might get lucky. But statistickly speaking, it wont last long. My hopes are that it will. Watch him closely. and goodluck

fedukeford , I agree with the suggestion of any of the bubble tip anemones, they would be ideal for that type of lighting. Try to find a tank raised one for even better odds of survival.
pbienkiewi - I'm afraid I also agree that those lights won't cut it for long term success for keeping a carpet alive. The lights you have just will not supply enough PAR rating to the bottom of that tank to keep the zooxanthellae alive that lives inside the carpet anemone, feeding 3 times per week will only be a short term help. This is a photosynthetic animal and it simply must have the punch of a MH lighting for it.

I was given a green carpet a few weeks ago. It was kept under 384w (i think) PC in a 125g for 9 months. It really did look good considering the guy didn't even know they needed light. It is looking better under my lights (640w vho). I bet it will look even happier when I add MH.
My BTA clone has always looked happy and has never moved. I've had it for about 6 months.

I've been thinking about adding a carpet to my system. It's a 55g w/440 of VHO, half super actinic, half actinic white. Do you guys see a problem with that?
Also, before I run into troubles with the others, I have a Florida Condi, a Pink Tip Haitian, and your basic BTA (which is growing like a weed) in in there. Any issues or should I consider other homes?

I think carpets are too big for a 125. They are HUGE!
They should really have MH lighting too.

i have a carpet in my 125, shes a big one. but not too big for the 125 gal tank. maybe it would be tight in a 55 gal. just depends on what else is in the 55.

I don't recommend anemones. I have (had) two of them and they were complete dictators of the tank. They move around and sting/get stung by whatever they touch. Whenever they find a spot they like you have to situate all of the other corals around them, This doesn't sound bad, but if you have a tank heavily stocked with corals, it is a PAIN!
Also, they are very BEAUTIFUL creatures, but in my opinion they are a lot like caged birds of paradise. They live only like 1/100th of their life span when kept in captivity...even under metal halides. If you are determined to buy one, at least try to get one that was propagated in captivity. That way they are hardier for captive conditions, and you arent depriving the natural reef of their presence.
