your own fish store from your LFS????????
Me to start I would have an more knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Then I would have a larger saltwater fish selection, i'm lucky if they carry 3 different species at any one time.
Then surely I would sale live rock and corals, mine does not.
I would have display tanks to exhibit what can be done with what I sell.
A larger selection of fish period.
Cleaner and healthier tanks and lower prices on sea salt.
I would love to have my own shop, but it would go over as good as a rock in a wet paper bag in this area.. :(

I'd have stripers, beer, and Captain Morgens at mine, but hey I'm still a novice when it comes to reefs.
Just curious on how many successful hobby-ests end up selling frags/critters back to LFS?

I've returned several items for credit on purchases.....some xenia frags....mushrooms....a polyp rock....3 small frags from my sarcophyton....and everytime I go to my favorite LFS(110 miles one way) they love me to bring in a couple of bags of calupera to re-sale........ :p

Boy, my LFS must be great. They always give you credit when you bring something to them, always offer credible advise, always know me and my tank when I come in and ask a question, always give me discounts to keep me coming back, they only have saltwater (no other animals to make the store nasty), only have 2 main employees (1 being the owner) they build most of the display tanks in KC and have in home service. They also order anything I might need and don't hike up the price. If I had a LFS it would be like the one I frequent and it would have strippers and beer! <img src="graemlins//evilwhorn.gif" border="0" alt="[Evil Horn]" />

I would probably never sell anything!
"I will come over to your house at 3pm to check out your tank before you can take that clownfish home."
"How long did you say you've been keeping fish?" "Can you provide proof?"
"Please identify the following creatures as fast as you can."
"Please explain cycling to my son (who is 13 and does not want to know) so that he can repeat it verbatim back to me."
"I will need at least 3 references."
Naw.....I'd go broke :D

Bare in mind, that LFS are in business to make money, so they sell whatever is hot at the time, betta tanks, plastic plants, colorful fish at low prices. But those of us in this hobby know that it doesn't make good reef systems. First off what I'd do is make sure I have enough money to maintain my current status so that I could sell what I want to whom I want at a reasonable profit so that I can enjoy the rewards of sharing with someone else the joy of reef keeping. It would have to remain a hobby for me so that I would not have to become a business person instead. I'd have a large fully stocked display with several smaller tanks for coral and fish, lots of needed supplies with quick turn around on ordered items. I'd offer to maintain home systems for a fee and only hire employees who have a system also. To me this is where experience provides knowledge. I like the idea of providing DIY clinic and working with young up and coming hobbyist. Now if I only had the money.
