Hello all, I have spent quite a few hours as of late reading through all of your posts and have found them to be very informative. I am a person with some disposable income (seems almost like a must in this hobby) and in the next year and a half to two years i am planning on going big,VERY BIG infact with my saltwater addiction. I was just wondering, if you were me, what would you do with a very large aquarium setting? go ahead dream big!!!!! I know I am.

before you go so big, i'd take some time and go smaller. see if you can keep a 75 gallon going for a couple years before you jump into such a huge tank and kill off everything in it because you don't know what you're doing. reading and doing are completely different things.

depends on the dimensions. I would go stand in the tank and wait for inpsiration to strike. most likley an insanly large reef, or the largest amazonian river biotope I have ever seen.

If the tank is going to be around 36" tall or less I would go with a nice mixed reef tank with a schools of a couple types of tangs. If its going to be taller id do and shark/large tang tank.

that would be cool, and a heck of a lot cheaper. do tons of discus and angels. i do agree with what was said about starting with a smaller tank. a lot of people (regardless of their tank size) get tired of the hobby after a while and quit.

That tank reminds me of diving in Bonaire... Oh how I miss it...

i wouldn't do reef. you probably wouldn't have enough room to dive the tank without hitting stuff unless you're experienced in small tanks.
i'd go with a shark tank also if i could. problem with that is sharks need curves and their skin/fins scratch acrylic. based on that i would actually go huge fish freshwater. sacrilege i know.

i would have eels, groupers, lions, triggers, puffers, tangs, or just some sharks and rays with some huge morays

If you have that kind of money, then you can afford someone taking care of it for you. I would make a wall with a huge tank that you can look at from different rooms and angles. It would obviously be custom made and you could even afford two smaller tanks with one aggressive and one reef. The possibilities are endless. Visit a local aquarium and get ideas.

Well this is what i would do Now. Since you have some disposible cash, you can send some to me or you can get Salifer test kits, a few good books, some Mh lighting, RO/di unit, a kick ass Skimmer, the tank, some 4" or + of sand, Equipment powerheads ect. 1-2 lbs of good Live Rock per gallon.
Set it up, Cycle it (it will take about 4-6 weeks) While cycling you can keep Stacking money and doing Heavy research on what to keep.
That's were i would start..
