What would you do?

Ok. Here's the dilemma. My clown fish has recently found out how much fun my gonipora is. I've got an anemone for him, but he still works the gonipora like he's trying to get in. I netted him this morning when I found him on it again. I know gonipora hasn't been kept very successfully by many people but this one seems to be doing so well. A lot of people have said gonipora usually crashes after about 7 or 8 months anyway. I don't want to give up my clown but if I trade in the gonipora I'll never know if I could have kept it that long or longer. So here I sit contemplating what to do. What would you do?

if you have a refug. than i would put the anemone and clown in there for a couple days and see if they bond and if and when the do after they have been together a little while i would put them back that is what i once did when my clown bonded with my xenia instead of my anemone

I would get rid of the flower pot and get a credit for it now while it's still alive. You mind as well get something for it. My brother's clown hosted with flowerpot and didn't do any damage to it. Eventually he found the anemone and left the flowerpot alone.

big mac,
no I didn't know what I was getting into w/ the gonipora I just impulse bought because it was cheap and was the best damn gonipora I had ever seen.
The gonipora is really the first coral that I have really bought w/ out extensive research first so I wouldn't say I exactly buy things that are going to crash. Maybe you've had bad luck w/ anemones but mines been like old faithful.
I do have a refugium but I'm afraid my bta might get sucked down the outflow. That is a good idea though. I guess I'll just hope for the best a let my clown play where he pleases.

Sell it to a different store than where you bought it if you got such a killer deal on it. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYBODY KEEPING A FLOWER POT FOR MORE THAN 8-10 MONTHS. I'm pretty sure it will die, unless you are the lucky type. Trade the coral in for something more sure. I agree with flamingking, that is a good idea if you wanna try it.

When I had a Flower Pot, my clowns went to it too. For the first little bit the FP didn't open that well, but after it was used to the clowns, it was huge. Alas, the FP did pass, at the time of purchase, I trusted the LFS, and did not do my own research. They are beautiful and hard to pass up, but I wouldn't get one again. IME, sometimes clowns won't take to an anenome, and that's just the way it is. I have a clown with no anenome, and he's happy. He and the blue tang are buddies and hang around together all the time:)

When I started with saltwater there was no internet, we had bad books and bad advice.
Big mac,
You sound like the father that told his son he had to walk uphill in the snow both ways to get to school. Bad advice does exist on the internet too. This forum is full of it on a daily basis. If you are tired of hearing these stories quit responding to them. So many people aren't successful w/ gonipora. Well I look at it this way.
my lfs stocked it and it wasn't going back to the ocean so I might as well give it a shot.
We have all impulse bought something we know might be risky at one time or another.
