Whats a good filter?

Does anyone know what a good filter would be? I have a pretty good list going for skimmers and PHs, but I cant find anything on filters. I am doing a 55 gl with LS and LR. I have been looking at a wet/dry system called Pro 75, it has a skimmer built in, but the more I think about it, the more I think that the skimmer and filter should be seperate. Does anyone run a filter and skimmer combo? I really dont want anything hanging on the back of the tank. Can anyone help? :help:

I have the pro-150 same filter just bigger on my 125 gal. tank! I also have the And i have had great luck with that filter system, no problems with nitrated or nitrites. about every 6 months i take out about 1/2 the bioballs and wash them off real good useing water from my water changes. clean my skimmer about once a week and clean the blue filter pad about once a month and just replace it about every 3 months, its real cheap, you can buy it buy the yard cheap. And theres a final big sponge type filter just before the water gets to the return i clean it about every 3 months. IMO its a grat filtration system, but theres a lot of people on here that think other wise. I've been running mine since june 04. Hope that helps! Good luck to ya no matter what you go with :jumping: :jumping: Adn the skimmer works really great too!

With enough live rock you don't need a filter. The bacteria in the live rock does what you need the filter to do. Purchase a good skimmer and you are good to go.

I didn't know if you had enough LR you didn't knee a filter. How cool is that!!
I'm assuming you still need power heads?
Todd,
Thanks for your input. The lfs here recommended it and wasn't too sure if I should go with it or not. I have found it a lot cheaper online too, so that helps.
I have been in Cheyenne since 1998 and love it. I grew up in the Denver metro area and never thought I would like it up here, but no one could pay me enough to move back.
