What kind of host can a maroon clown be in? I have a anemone, toadstool, torch, xenia, and a metallic green torch and he doesn't seem to be interested in any of them. Hear are some pics of my maroon and my anemone. I would really LOVE to see my maroon host some thing.

It looks like your maroon is in a nano - Am I right? If so, lighting probably isn't strong enough for a BTA and the other thing is that your maroon will most likely get too big for it.

Bulb tip anemone = BTA . Your nano won`t be big enough for the maroon and an anemone .Especially with corals .

Long Tentical Anemone =LTA which requires a lot of space which will not work in your nano . No hosting anemone will be able to go in that small of a nano . Now , clowns are known to host in many different corals . That is your best bet , in that tank .

that is wrong. My LFS has a nano showtank with some anemone in it and it is with a maroon. They dont know what it is and it is about the diameter of a baseball and it is white with 1/2 - 1 inch tentacles on it.

It looks like you have a rock anemone which generally won't host a clownfish and I wouldn't risk another anemone in that small of a tank or with that lighting. Some clowns will go to an anemone and some won't but you can't really make them, mine thinks the powerhead is a host and sometimes these huge mushrooms.

A lot of lfs's will get a clown and anemone that are hosting and move them to a nano in order to sell the nanos

My maroon hosts in her bubble tip anemone. She love this thing to death. I think they are the most common anemone for maroons.

Actually I believe that you can support a clown and its host in a nano, however that must be teh only inhabitants and the water must be kept pristine.

get a substitute host like some zoas or some sort of soft coral. It doesnt have to be an anemone. you can get a toadstool leather (one with the long tentacles) and they will host that too and its almost impossible to kill a leather.
Could always buy a plastic fake anemone.

Good Luck

And your trusting a LFS that doesn`t know what anemone they have ?
Stay far away from them .
