whats a good skimmer for my tank!

i have a 180 gallon tank and im lookling for a good skimmer to put in the sump...
what brand and price will i be looking at?
whats better a sump type or a hang over type?whats the dif between the 2?
any help would be great....

I have never had a problem with the Coralife brand. And for your size they make a 225 model..... and its pretty reasonably priced also.

I would look at the mrc's and the Etss skimmers.
All of the others listed are needlewheels, which are fine, but they are too finicky in my opinion.
I have a 180 and I have a mrc-mr2 clone on mine and it is awesome. I had a etss reef devil deluxe on it and it was great too.
The thing about the becketts and downdrafts is that they require larger pumps and more wattage to operate, which alot of people don't like. I personally think it is worth a few extra pennies a day for more raw skimming power. The mrc-mr2 will destroy any other skimmer in that price range as far as effectiveness, but it will cost a little more to run.
