I just noticed today that I have green stuff growing in my tank. It is just a little bit so far. It looks like grass. What is this? Is it normal? Is it good? What do I do? Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like green hair algea...not desireable. How old is your tank? What do you have in your tank? What, and how much do you feed? How long are your lights on per day? Do you use tap water? Is your tank situated near a sunlight source? Please post your water parameters, including phosphates if possible. Also, a picture of the problem would help greatly.

My tank is about 3 months old. I have no fish right now. I have 1 carpet anemone. Snails and crabs, and a cleaner shrimp. My lights are on for 9 hours per day. It is in front of a window. I only use RO water. I think it is too little to post a picture. I will go to the LFS and get my water tested tomorrow.

I ordered a blue hippo tang, more snails and crabs from SWF.com Friday. What should I do? They will arive Tuesday or Thursday. At least that is what I requested. It is a very little amount. There was about 5 green hair like algae on my glass, and about 20 on my thermometer that floats around. I took the thermometer out. I had my water tested Friday at the LFS and they said everything was fine. When I go tomorrow I will get numbers. I have a 72G tank. Can we stop it before it gets out of hand? Will my new arrivals be ok?
