I have a 12 gallon nanocube and i want to add a shrimpgoby and a pistol shrimp. ANy thoughts, comments, or concers. I heard they are loud and can break glass. Imput would be most apreciated.
I have one and they are loud... I've heard they can break glass but I've never seen it. I would also add that they like to dig a lot and you will almost never see him. I've had one for a long time and the only time I've seen him was when I moved the tank
I have a 10g glass aquarium with a pistol shrimp and yellow headed shrimp goby. I hear him clicking but it is not loud. It really sounds like a snap/click similar to someone taking a pin and tapping the glass. I have never been scared of him cracking glass. I think that is more of an attribute of the paddle mantis shrimps. I don't see mine often, but I do see my goby occasionally. I do get my sand reaaranged nightly by his tunnels. I love mine and if I could I would have a tank with no rock and just a sand bed so I could always see the entrance to the cave.
I think Mantis shrimp are the ones that can break glass. I have a pistol shrimp and though he isn't out all the time, he does come out afew times a day with his goby. His clicks are not real loud, almost like a cricket, but he is pretty small so it may get louder when he grows more.
yea, you're thinking mantis shrimp.
my pistol srhimp moves the sand everywhere. make sure you put your rock on the bottom of the tank, not on the sand.
my shrimpgoby does not go anywhere near my pistol shrimp, been that way for months now. lfs has a red/white pistol shrimp atm and it's beautiful. mine is a tan/white one and its still nice looking.
I kept a Tiger Pistol Shrimp for quite some time. Not really that loud, you could hear him when he snapped his claw though. Didn't break my glass and always saw him when I fed the tank.
