What's the deal with this?

I was on the seachem site just now and was looking at their marine subsrtates. I found this chart and really don't undrestand it! Do you want higher or lower numbers?

Well, from what you posted, the numbers are in parts per million.
so, what they are saying is that those numbers are what you need to be shooting for.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I meant to say this is for a type of oolitic sand and those are it's propertys and i was wondering if thats good or not.

My understanding is that would be the chemical makeup of the substrate... really means nothing to me.

All it is, is the make up of the sand. Melt it down with low PH water... like that of a calcium reactor (or vinegar) and this would be the chemical makeup.
A lot of people use CC in their calcium reactors... same principle as a DSB that has areas that reach a low PH... the substrate melts, releasing the above chemical into the water.
