as stated, is 900 - 1000 gph too much for a 55g reef? thinking about upgrading from a eheim 1250.

Most people go by 10 times as a rule. Don't forget to subtract your head for the pump size. My rio 2100(Iknow,Iknow) is rated at 666gal per hr. At 3 ft head it'll do around 450 gal. Good luck.

depends on how you have it returned or plumbed on the return. a mag9-12 would be good. if you have seaswirls you may want more. If you have 1000gph returning from one input maybe to much but bettween 3 it would be nice. also use seaswils or modular tubing. If you have sps =not to much. softies =maybe. Depends on how its plumbed
