These little green pod looking things pop up on my rock then they kind of open up and turn to this greenish brown looking plant? do i need to get after them with a tooth brush to get them off or what? each one has a few leaves...doesn't look like the rest of the kinds of algae i've seen. Thanks.

Hard to tell from the info provided...but sort of sounds like some polyps maybe....search for polyps and see if they look like what you have....if so they are good beginner corals and you'll enjoy them as the continue to grow and expand.....they do show up on good LR.....maybe you got some on yours

I'm pretty sure they're not polyps..i'll check it out tho. you never know. These are very leafy. They pretty much look like blades of grass...they're kind of thick. And they're kinda brown. Hard to describe in words..hopefully i'll figure out how to put a pic on here so everyone can see what i'm talking about. i'll try to work on that after i finish wrapping presents.

I have the same growing on my new LR. Most are browning leafs, but some are deep green. I guess is macroalgae.

Thanks for that website! found out from there it's sargassum algae and is totally normal. Comes along after the cycle is finished and dies off after about 6 months. Thanks again!
