I currently have a colony of 30+ Duncans. I was thinking about finding some one or a lfs to sell/trade. Anyone have an opinion on how much?

Wow, that is a lot. At my LFS, they are selling Duncans for $15 each!!!

i would frag it out they sell for 30 a head up north.

Wow.. If I had money and you were fragging, I would definitely help take that colony down a few heads. I've been trying to get duncans for way too long. On the topic, though, I think if you end up fragging it off (if you're willing to take the time), you stand to make more money than just selling the colony as a whole...

I thought of fragging the whole colony, but its an incredible show piece. That would be like smashing up a huge monti. Yet I'm still thinking of firing up the wet saw

I've seen colonies that size for only about $150 at my LFS, and yet I've never seen a single head for less than about $25. In other words - frag it!

Yeah i would say frag away. The grow extremely fast. Don't know why they are still so much as they are not that rare.

The cost of Duncans is variable and all depends on the color. Most of the really bright, neon green Duncans if they are the ORA variety sell for $50-$70 per polyp. The tanish or dull green Duncans can be purchased for $10-$15 per polyp. It the same as having a brown acro vs a tri-color acro, it's all relative to the color and what the buyer is willing to pay.
It's a shame to bust up a show piece like that one, maybe contact a local Aquarium, if you have one, if not maybe try some of the larger ones outside of your area. Not sure who you would call, maybe the curator?
Better yet, why not just keep it and let it continue to grow!
