I have a Flame angel who's body and fins look flaky. The fins are not clear but have cloudy look to them.
Any idea what could be wrong? I have had several other fish in the past in the same situation.. Some days they look falky and some days they look ok.. What's going on??
Parameters
PH 8.03- 8.04
salintiy 3.02
Nitrite - .03

Can some shed more light on this!!

I do not know what is wrong with your flame angel, but since you have had the same experience with past fishes, I think your water might have something to do with it.
The normal Ph lvl is 8.2
The salinity should be in between 1.020-1.024 specific gravity
And your nitrite should be zero at all times
What about your ammonia? It should be at zero too.
The easiest way to check is by bringing it to your lfs and let them test it for you. Or if you have the test kit at home, try to test it.
I hope that helps a little :)

Come again with the "salinity" reading??? The specific gravity [salinity] should be in the 1.022 to 1.025 range. Also, your nitrite should be zero. Anything else can cause serious fish stress and disease.
Take all those readings again and look carefully at the results. Include ammonia reading as well. If your specific gravity is above the range I told you, then that could be a serious problem as well.

From the info you have given, your problem has to do with water quality. Your filtration needs to be buffed up. The others were right in their assessment on water paramenters. Any hint of poor water quality will stress your fish, especially the more delicate ones. This will allow them to be susceptible to diseases. Hard to tell what your fish has but it sounds like a fungus with whitish slime and tattered fins. You should definitely do a water change and get your filtration worked out.
