I saw on here swf.com said they are difficult. why is that? I've never really considered them before but the lfs guy now has 2 of them. in person, their colors are more stunning than pictures show. these 2 he has are both around 4" long, but they're somewhere around $60.

$60 is a reasonable price for a potter's angel. They are actually a very hardy fish if they ship well. The problem is that they are poor shippers. If your LFS has them eating aggressively, I would jump on it. If they are not eating, don't even give him in a second look.

these 2 he has would definitely be what one would consider "show" fish (is there actually a fish show where "show" fish are shown?). they are both fat and their colors are almost neon they're so vibrant. and like I said, they're close to 4" which is a pretty nice size for a centropyge. I should've jumped on them.
he's got them in QT now and they won't be for sell until 9/10. I bought a foxface (also in QT) so if he still has them on 9/10 when I go get the foxface, I may get one.

Yes there are fish shows! I used to show fish a lot. I'd get a beat up one with good markings from the distributor I worked at. ( I actually use to know evry fishes judging points, Like in dogs where certain breeds legs had to be a % of their length, etc.) I'd raise them, put them in a show, bag a sweet trophy then sell him at the auction after the show. You'd be amazed what you can get for a fish if you throw in the trophy. I sold a Coral beauty for $120, and he only got 3rd place. The 2 main judging point specific to them are, range of color the darkness of the blue compared to the brightness of the yellow, and color progression, don't really know how to explain that. Join your local fish club, your lfs probably has info. they seel everything at the auctions.

The price is fair. Potter's as a lot do not have a good long term survival record. If you keep one alive for a year, you're doing well.
The occassional fish will survive longer. Possibly diet related.
(From another site); At a marine fish conference, there was a seminar on dwarf angels. The speaker asked how manhy people had ever kept a potter's angel and several hands went up. When asked how many had the fish live for two years, all the hands went down.
