When buying fish from SWF.com, are they straight from the ocean-? Or from tanks -?

I never bought fish from SWF.com before. But I was thinking of giving it a shot. I need a cleanup crew and a blue hippo. I was wondering if they keep the fish under observation for a while, then sell it-? Anyhelp would be good, thanks !

I'm not sure but every fish I have ever ordered here has been extremely healthy.

I am pretty sure most of the fish on this site are tank-bred. I have yet to hear a complaint about swf.com's livestock quality, but when I decided on a hippo tang, I just paid the extra money to buy mine from the LFS since hippos are rather notorious for ich. I just wanted to be able to thoroughly check out the fish myself before I brought it home.

Thanks for the replies guys ! I might get my hippo from the LFS,because of the ich. But my 175 has no cleaning crew, so I will definitely get them from SWF.com.

i bought a royal gramma, a blue hippo, some snails and a couple rics from swf
the blue hippo is perfectly fine.
when i got the RG it had a white sort of gash or mark on its head that ended up healing, but it died. i had it for about 5 or 6 days ... (it died today actually.)
its cool that they have the 15 day guarantee but its kind of pointless if the fish only costs 10 dollars you know... now i have to go out and buy salt and ziplock bags and pay to mail it back to just get credited (from what i understand)... if they would send me a new one itd be better because now if i want the royal gramma i have to come up with like 90 more dollars.
the rics are OK. i dont have many corals at all so perhaps im just unaware of the needs of ricoreda...
about half my snails havent moved at all... im assuming they are dead or in a coma....
however, everything came and the most expensive purchase was well worth it (hippo)
i dont want to be the only person saying something negative... but its true.
i think for a clean up crew and a blue hippo... heck yeah, give swf a shot. my bad experience probably doesnt happen to many people at all and the hippo is great (i didnt get a show or anything, just the smallest one) its super super active it eats and swims all the time.
(if anyone reads this and they decide to "slam" me for something, please PM me so we dont ruin the thread. i hate that stuff)
good luck !!

SWF.com does keep fish in tanks and does not sell fish that are unhealthy, however, this will not eliminate the hobbyist's need to quarantine new, incoming fish. There's no way to avoid that.

A very small percentage of SW fish are tank-bred. Only those that say "aquacultured". Most SW species have never been been bred, by anyone, in captivity. I've bought all my livestock online for years; and am extremely happy with SWF and another company I do business with. Regardless of how fish are handled by the supplier; I Qt and acclimate as if the fish came straight from the ocean. Any time a fish is moved, its subject to stress that can trigger a potential problem. The old "ounce of prevention" thing.

There are very few fish that are tank raised. Cardinals, clowns are the only ones I know of, I'm sure there are more
