I have had my tank up and running for over a month. it has cycled and I have a few fish. How long do I need to wait before i get some coral?

IMO you can start adding some nice and easy soft corals now as long as you have proper light and water parameters

the answer to that really depends on the corals, mushrooms I would say you could try them now, provided your water tests fine, musghrooms are really tough and almost bulletproof when it comes to aquarium life. xenia not for several more months, maybe a tree coral or leather would be ok. just start slow, try a couple mushrooms, then give it a few weeks, if its ok after two weeks grab a tree coral or leather.

I have a 12 gallon with 36 watts/pc lighting and started adding mushrooms and button polyps after a month and a half. The mushrooms really took off; in fact I had to frag a couple and move some others because they were doing so well. I once read that mushrooms are the largest single polyp coral in the world because each individual one has the potential to grow to 10 inches! Well, given the right conditions (in the ocean). Anyways, you can't go wrong with mushrooms. They're very hardy. One of mine that started "moving" on to a rock next to it's original one was fragged when I simply moved the original one and the part that was stuck to the other rock stayed, tearing the coral in half. This was an accident since I did'nt realize it was stuck on the other rock. Well, that made 2 new mushrooms out of the first one.
