When do I start using my Protien Skimmer?

Just started my 75 gallon reef tank about 6 weeks ago. I have 75 lbs of live rock, 40lbs live sand, 50 snails and crabs, two feather dusters, 2 damsels, manderin gody, lawnmower blenny, coral beauty and a clown. When should i start using my Protien skimmer? I heard wait at least two months, but i am not sure.

Thanks for the info. now i have to figure out how to work my skimmer.

It is all in the waste production. I had a 55 that didnt even produce much foam until 6 months. Plug it in and see what goes on.
